I have a latex allergy. Can I use a Me Luna Cup?

You can also use Me Luna Cup if you have a latex allergy. It consists only of its raw material TPE and contains no latex.

I have a silicone allergy. Can I use Me Luna Cup?

Since the Me Luna is not made of silicone rubber but of thermoplastic elastomer, you can use the Me Luna Cup.

Is it possible to have an allergic reaction against Me Luna?

No! Me Luna Cup is free from perfume, dyes and fragrances as well as latex and silicone. It does not contain any dangerous plasticizers or other questionable substances.

I haven't had my period that long. Is a menstrual cup still suitable?

Yes, a menstrual cup can be used from the first period. But it is individually different from when you start using a cup. Initially, many people use pads because it's a bit difficult to insert and remove a tampon or cup.

I am a virgin. Can I use Me Luna Cup?

Yes, you can.

However, the hymen can be altered when using a menstrual cup.

Can I also use Me Luna Cup during intercourse?

A menstrual cup is not a contraceptive and should not be used during sexual intercourse. It can lead to internal injuries during penetration.

Can Me Luna Cup also be used after the pregnancy in the postpartum period?

No, you should absolutely not use tampons or cups during the lochia. For this time we recommend our washable cloth pads or period underwear.

I am currently using a copper IUD or a hormonal IUS for contraception. Can I use Me Luna?

In principle, yes. If the string has not been cut short, be careful whenever you use Me Luna Cup to prevent from removing the IUD from your uterus. The string must not be stuck between the Me Luna and your vaginal wall. It should remain inside the Me Luna Cup. If you want to use Me Luna and an IUD, shortening of the string is recommended. It would be best if you discuss this with your OB/GYN.

Can I use Me Luna Cup with long fingernails?

Long fingernails pose no obstacle when using the Me Luna Cup, but please make sure that you clean thoroughly under your nails before inserting or emptying Me Luna Cup. When you first start using the cup, please also be particularly careful to make sure that you do not scratch yourself with your nails.

Can Me Luna cause Toxic Shock Syndrome?

Toxic Shock Syndrome affects both women and men of all ages. The disease is not exclusively related to monthly hygiene.

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is an infection caused by bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) that can lead to severe circulatory and organ failure.

TSS is more common in women during menstruation and the use of tampons. Some cases have also been documented in connection with menstrual cups.

The symptoms of TSS can be flu-like, sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness during or shortly after your period. If these symptoms occur, please remove the menstrual cup for safety and seek medical advice immediately.

My Me Luna Cup suddenly smells unpleasant.

If the composition of proteins in the menstrual fluid changes, your cup may take on a strange odor even though you have cleaned it thoroughly as usual.

Usually, if you put your cup in a dry airy place (not in the blazing sun), well cleaned, the smell will disappear. The protein compounds break down due to the oxygen. As a preventive measure, we recommend that you first rinse the cup with cold water after each use. Unless a vaginal infection is causing the odor, the odor is harmless from a health and hygiene perspective. However, if you notice a change in odor over a longer period of time, please seek advice from a gynecologist.

I have/had vaginal mycosis. Can I continue to use my cup normally?

Yeast fungi are killed at temperatures above 60°C. Therefore, it is recommended to wash all linen and towels at a temperature of at least 70° C in case of vaginal fungal infections. The normal disinfection of the Me Luna by boiling for 3 minutes is absolutely sufficient.

Thorough hand washing before changing tampons, pads and menstrual cups is very important for monthly hygiene to protect against further infections.
