How does Me Luna Cup work?

The Me Luna Cup is a small, pliable, soft cup that is inserted in the vagina to collect the menstrual flow and is effortlessly and securely kept in place by the pelvic muscles.

After a few hours you simply remove the cup and empty it, then rinse and reinsert it.

Unlike tampons and sanitary towels, the menstrual cup does not absorb the fluid, it collects it in the cup.

Fold it

First, please wash your hands thoroughly!

To insert the cup, simply fold the Me Luna using your preferred method.

C-fold is the most common fold. Press the Me LunaCup flat, and then fold the two sides together in a C shape.

S-fold is suitable for large sizes, like Me Luna L and XL. Press the Me Luna Cup flat and fold the edge in a zigzag, like an S.

The Punch down fold technique is a bit more sophisticated. Press the edge of Me Luna down into the cup with your finger, and fold the sides around it.

There are many variations of folds, and you will find the one most comfortable for you.

Insert it

Hold the Me Luna Cup firmly folded and insert it, with the folded side first, into the vagina.

You will quickly find out by trial and error what optimal positioning of Me Luna Cup is for you. Some women prefer to place it close to the cervix, while others prefer it to sit closer to the vaginal entrance.

To prevent leakage, after the insertion check whether the menstrual cup has "popped open" correctly. You can do this by turning the cup, or by running a finger around the cup's rim.

Remove it

Usually it is sufficient to empty your Me Luna Cup 3 to 4 times a day. Since the menstrual flow varies, the frequency in which you need to empty the cup will also vary.

Please wash your hands thoroughly before removing!

To remove the Cup, put yourself in a comfortable position, preferably a squatting position, then relax and carefully remove the Me Luna by gently pulling the handle on the bottom of the cup.

At the same time, use your pelvic floor muscles to push the cup down and out.

Turning the Me Luna Cup can also be helpful.

Me Luna seems very complicated to handle, will I be able to do it?

Yes, of course. Only patience and training are required. After one or two menstrual cycles you will have mastered the handling of Me Luna Cup.

Will I feel the cup while wearing it?

No, if the size fits you, you won't feel the cup while wearing it.

Can I try the cup before my next period?

We advise against this as it is more difficult to use a menstrual cup when you don't have your period.

Can I remove the cup by the handle?

Menstrual cup handles are designed to help position the cup and make it easier to find when removing it. When removing, you should always work gently with the pelvic floor muscles. Please do not just pull the handle of the Me Luna.

How long can I wear the cup before emptying it?

It takes a bit of practice and a feel for, especially at the beginning, when you should empty your cup. As a rule of thumb, we recommend you start by emptying your cup as often as you change your tampon. You will quickly find out for yourself. Please wear the Me Luna Cup for a maximum of 8 hours before you empty it!

I'm afraid the cup will disappear inside me!

Anatomically, your vagina is a "closed" area. The two openings that exist are the vaginal exit and the cervix. The opening of the cervix is a few millimeters in size and does not allow the cup to pass through.

HELP, the Me Luna Cup will not come out!

You've inserted the Cup but now it won't come out? If you are unable to remove the cup straight away, this can naturally be worrying. We assure you that you will be able to take it out.

Relax and experiment in different positions with your pelvic floor muscles. Push with your muscles like you would during a bowel movement so that the cup moves downwards. If you are really worried, try taking a relaxing bath and removing the cup while in the water.

I can insert and remove the cup fine, but it isn't catching everything?

This can happen at first. You can use cloth pads or period underwear as a backup. After two or three cycles, the cup should work more reliably. Your muscles adapt to the cup. If it does not improve, please try a different insertion angle and wear it in a different position.

The grip can be felt

If you prefer to place the cup closer to the vaginal entrance, then you may feel the grip.

Just put the Me Luna Cup inside out, so that the handle is inside.
